Brawl Stars developers have recently come into a realization that some of the balance updates that have been rolled out in the past have hit some of the game’s characters pretty hard. Since then, they’ve decided to start working to even out the playing field in a more effective way.
The new character balance will see a few of the more powerful fan-favorite brawlers lose a number of their greatest advantages, while the less powerful brawlers have now been given significant upgrades to increase their power.
Shelly is probably the character who is most affected by the latest Brawl Stars balance update, as the changes made in her stats now make her less powerful and less effective as a generalist — which was what previously made her one of the fan favorites, together with her capability to survive almost any given situation.
Her main attack range has just been decreased by 1 tile from 7.66 down to 6.66, her reload time increased by .25 seconds to 1.5 seconds from the previous 1.25 seconds, while her main attack shells were intentionally spread even further apart.
The added reload time will guarantee her opponents that Shelly would no longer be able to fire endlessly, and the changes in her range as well as main attack shells are expected to make her less effective at poking, and, most especially, at medium range encounters.
In an effort to keep Bull’s attack just a little bit slower than Shelly’s, his reload time has been adjusted to 1.6 seconds from the previous 1.5 seconds.
Colt, on the other hand, gets only good stuff from the balance update. His main attack bullets can now fly 9% faster than it did before, and his tile range dramatically increased from a measly 10 tiles to 10.66.
Bo’s reload time has just been decreased to 1.7 seconds from 2 seconds, which should allow him to be better at his role in area-denial as a ranged tank.
Barley is one of the few who got their long overdue upgrades, with his firepower now so much more powerful than ever before at 140 per tick for both his main attack AND his super. Barley’s main attack bottles now fly 16 percent faster, while his Super bottles are now 8 percent faster than they were before.
Another of the lucky ones who received a significant upgrade is Dynamike, who, with the latest balance update, now has a faster deploy time and has more firepower.
Dynamike’s Main attack damage is up to 180 per dynamite stick from the previous 160, and his Super damage, which was previously at 500 has now been increased to 540. Both his main attack and his Super were adjusted to make projectiles deploy faster, and their explode time has been decreased from 1.5 seconds to 1.4 seconds.
While the balance update he received is fairly significant, there’s really not much changes made with Crow apart from the increase in both his main attack and his Super attack, which are now at 80 per knife. His Poison damage, on the other hand, was decreased from 90 to 80.
Jessie has always been perhaps one of the most used brawlers in Brawl Stars but she was never considered as someone extra special despite the fact that her turret has always made her opponents extremely unhappy. The latest balance update seems determined to change that, however.
In the update, Jessie’s Main attack damage has been significantly increased from 140 to 160, and her Super rate of fire has been dramatically improved. Her turret or Scrappy is now able to shoot a lot faster, with the time between shots down to 0.25 seconds from the previous 0.35 seconds, and the bullet speed now increased by a total of 33 percent.
Sadly, Piper is one of the brawlers who were slapped with a significant downgrade. Her Main attack damage has now been decreased to 440, her Super damage, significantly decreased from 300 to a measly 200 per grenade.
Before the latest balance update, Piper’s super made escapes too devastating. The changes in Piper’s stats were meant to make her manageable by making her weaker.[source]
